Blog Post #5

Making videos is something that I use to enjoy doing when I was a bit younger. My friends and I enjoyed making several movies together, including the filming, costuming, scripting, and making the music. I have some very fond memories of making those movies and even have a few in my possession. However, I did not enjoy the acting part of movies. I really liked helping one of my best friends, Kacey, with the editing and everything else after that. So with making my own movies, I really like compiling them, but not actually being in them. I have a pretty good understanding of Windows Movie Maker so I mostly just gave myself a refresher course for a good 30 minutes for my class time.
Videos can greatly enhance learning for those who are primarily visual learners. For some students, merely having the teacher explain how something works isn't sufficient. Being able to visually see it can clarify and engage the student in the learning process.

  1. Ditto about helping students learn. Videos really do help us see things in a real life way that helps us remember what we saw. I still remember videos from elementary school. So definitely it is a good idea to use video in our teaching!

  2. Thats nice that you already are familiar with Windows Movie Maker. I started watching the tutorials and I had no prior knowledge to draw upon.
